ABOUT GWALIOR
Gwalior is a city in Madhya Pradesh, India, lying 122 kilometres (76 mi) south of Agra, and 423 kilometres (263 mi) north of Bhopal, the state capital.Gwalior occupies a strategic location in the Gird region of India, and the city and its fortress have served as the center of several of historic northern Indian kingdoms. Gwalior is the Administrative headquarters of Gwalior district and Gwalior division.
It takes only 3 to 4 hours' train journey from New Delhi, Gwalior city has close relation with Indian history and culture. Gwalior is widely recognized by the work place of Rajmata Scindia, Atal Bihari Bajpai and beloved Madhavrao Scindia. This is the city where Sachin Tendulkar made the unique World Record of making 200 runs in one day international.
The city has several important educational institutions including the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management, Scindia School, and Laxmibai National Institute of Physical Education.
How to Reach Gwalior
By Air The Gwalior Airport is situated at 8 km from the main city. It is connected by Indian Airlines to important cities like Mumbai, Indore, Bhopal, and Delhi. The services are operational thrice a week.
By Rail The Gwalior railhead is situated within the city area. It is on the main Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Chennai rail route. Among the important trains, the Taj and Shatabdi Express link Gwalior with Delhi and Agra.
By Road Gwalior is well linked by a good network of roadways and road transport to all the important towns of Madhya Pradesh and adjacent areas. It is well linked with Agra (118 km), Delhi (321 km), Jaipur (350 km), Bhopal (423 km), Lucknow, Chanderi (239 km), Khajuraho (275 km), Jhansi (101 km), Indore (486 km), Ujjain (455 km), Shivpuri (114 km) and Etawah (111 km).
